    will a isuzu 5 speed handle a 3400 TDC

simple question. can it handle it?
today i recieved my 3400 and im ready to hear tose rpms.
im putting it in my 1986 5 speed fiero taking out the 2.5 and going with a 3.4.
but can the tranny handle the power of the 3400? with a centerforce clutch or a west coast fiero cindered iron clutch?

I don't see why not , They bolt that tranny up to the SBC's with no problems.

I'm just passing on what I have heard and the Isuzu is the worst of that grouping of trannys. I think that Dickman has a long discussion on his site about this. 8)

I had one for 3 years untill i got stupid
they wont handle lots of torque for very long
which is why GM used the Getrag

for 3 years it's been used on my 350/300+ but I don't show off.well maybe sometimes ,I think you'll snap the shaft first. anyhow put in double friction clutch - OEM wont last too long.

Even though it's capable and fun to show off your 3.4L TDC and burn the tires down to the rims.... DON'T

The tranny will hold up a bit to punishment but that motor will put out alot more than the tranny can handle.

Don't push it or it will HURT :-[

    Nice choice in motor though

    DKOV -
    88 GT 3.4L TDC soon to be Trubo Charged 450 + HP F355- Bored, Ported, Decked, Ground, TB'd, Pulley'd, dyno'd... 322.8 HP
