    Need help with CAD

Planning to build (properly build (from scratch)) a particular car that has not been done before. I have a 3D CAD file ready, but how do I section it for cuts and how does the whole process work? Also is there a forum for people like me? Creating Cars from a buck?

    Thanks

I imported my model into AutoCAD. Then I created sections by spacing out rectangles along the length of the car where I want a bulkhead, and then using the section command.

Can it be done on Sketchup 3D or Blender 3D?

Welcome to the forum Cons. There's a new thread on here about a McLaren P1 build. It looks like he did the same process to make his 'slices', maybe he'd be willing to help you. He seems like a good guy..

Sorry, I don't know. My expertise is limited to AutoCAD.

Yes. You can download a 30 day trial version for free, although I would really look into videos on youtube or something like that for importing models and making sections first. This program isn't very beginner friendly.

Yes there is a plugin called object cross section for Blender that does it, its very simple but does the job. I had another plugin a few years ago that did it as well but lost it.
