    Rear differential problems on Replica 1937 Jaguar SS100 (1976? mustang/pinto 2.8L V6)

I am trying to track down the year of this engine and trying to find a replacement rear differential as there is a horrible intermittent grinding noise and a ton of vibration coming out of the current one. Also, if you think you know of a better engine I could drop into this easily enough, something more reliable and fuel efficient, please feel free comment. Appreciate the help.

Rear end probably came from same car as the engine:
    BOBCAT 75-76
    CAPRI 76 thru 8/30
    MUSTANG 75-76
    PINTO 75-76

There should be plenty of the Mustang II or Pinto rear assemblies available. '74-'78 Mustang or '74-'80 Pinto. Just find one and replace the one you have. You can probably install any newer engine that will fit in that space. It just needs to be something from a rear wheel drive car or small pickup. You will have to use the transmission that comes with the engine and have a driveshaft made up to fit.
