Fuel filler hose expand the end help.

I got some 1" ID fuel filler hose and i'm having trouble fitting it over a 1 1/4 OD metal pipe. Is there a trick to do this? The hose is stiff so it's very difficult. Is there a tool like a tapered spike or something that will open it up? Or am i just SOL and the pipe is too big? Thanks.

If it's a rubber hose, heat the end in a cup of boiling water and then slip it onto the metal pipe bud....

Wouldn't the simplest solution be to buy the correct size fuel hose?

can you weld a 1" to 1 1/4" expansion on to the part? Is it on the body or fuel tank where you have the fitment issue?

I got the metal pipe side fitted now my issue is with the hose going on the plastic nozzle coming out of the plastic gas tank. There is a rim on the nozzle making it difficult to get the hose on. I tried boiling water method and it helped but not quite enough. I decided to bite the bullet and get more hose at 1 1/4" this time. Thanks for your suggestions and help though.

Trick is to spray some dwf into the rubber pipe, slides over easy, & dries in a few seconds.

Not, you can always just stuff the tube with a cloth and cut the lip off.
