    Electrical problems

Ok, I bought a fiero but didn't know if the engine ran or not. It did not have a battery in it. So the other day I went out and purchased a battery to test and see if the engine worked. Well this is what happened. The engine fan immediately turned on after connecting the battery. Then I got inside the car and checked to see if all the lights and power items worked. Which they did. After, I started the engine and alll I heard was this staticy clicking noise. Then I smelt something burning. I got out of the car to see what had accured. The battery cables had melted to the battery. What should I check or do I need some advice.

If your battery cables melted to the battery when you turned the car on then check to make sure the + cable is not grounded somewhere and check the Altenator, it maybe hook up to the ground and is sending a positive charge to the battery thought a - ground wire

If the A/C is turned on (look at the heater controls by the radio), the engine fan will automatically come on.
