    hinging hood and deck

    Hello,
I recently purchased a unfinished Lamborghini 25th correct wheel base
    things to do:
    hinge hood and engine deck
    needs all glass and frames
    Interior
Head lights I have the pop up buckets but what a pain probaly will just put fixed head light
need to install outside door opener probaly a push button
    wire lights
    build new fire wall
and a hell of alot of sanding

well right now I am working on the sanding and have both hood and deck ready to be installed
I purchased a used set of 86 mustang hood hinges I think should work for the rear engine deck
after I make a new fire wall
I am having a hard time coming up with hinges for the front hood it lays right on the bumper
so it needs to lifted up then back
I really could use some sugestion

    thanks,
    chris

Hey Chris: I bought a set of hinges that lift up and away at Home Depo, They work great on my front hood. If you have a Home Depo in your area go in and look around you should find a few styles that will work. If not try some different hardware stores.

    Hope this helps:

    Trevor,
Is it a curved hinge you are using
I went to the home depot by me and all I could find where
flat pin hinges but they are remodiling the place is like a
    war zone
    thanks,

Chris: The hinges I bought are not curved they are scissor like. They hinge up and out, I think for the set of them they cost $20.00 CDN. They should have a few diferent styles like this, Mabye I can round up a part number if you can't find them.

Chris, the hinges I used were from the hood of a ford tempo from the junk yard ($5). Works great...

first, your front hood should have build in frame and rest of your panels(doors, deck lids) so when you hinge them, there is no stress pressure on the fiberglass. don't use the home depot hinges, they are made for furniture, not for 20 - 30 pound hoods. as for the trunk lid, i used a pair of front hood hinges out of a ford villiger . and for the engine deck lid, i used 2x2 piano hinges. now the front hood i modified out of 1/8 inch flat bar. it's pretty easy if you know what your doing

i didn't. i got someone else to do it for me.
heh but i probably could copy it for you.

when your ready for the headlights, let me know
ill help you with it. do one thing at a time

    later

Hey Kitcarnut: I was also wondering about the headlights, I am finishing up my doors now. And I am starting on the headlights next, I talked with euroworks, But I am not sure if there hardware will work on my headlight buckets. What type of hinges can I use on them, And what do you use for lamp housings and retainer rings? Any help would be great. Oh the hinges I found at Home Depot are pretty heavy duty and strong, I am not sure what they are for, Pretty sure they are not for cabinets.

    Thanks:
    Trevor

    Re: hinging hood and deck

Hey guys thanks for taking the time to help
I would think the ford tempo and villiger are probably the same hinge or very similar are they small and compact I don't have to much clearance under the front bumper with the steel framing for mounting
I do have 1x1 square tubing fiber glassed into the front and rear deck I planed on also putting
    a steel plate for mounting
Ed what are piano hinges? did you use the 1/8 in flat bar for mounting the hinges?
and trevor if you do have a part# so I can have some options I would appreciate it
    thanks again,
    chris
