4 lug vs 5 lug wheels

I have found some nice looking 18x8 wheels at www. wheelmax, But they are four lug. will they work on my my 5 lug wheels with adapters? I am going to have to use spacers for my AD 355 any way.

    Boomer,
I would not suggest going from 5 lugs down to 4 lugs. You will shear off the lugs easier with only 4 than with 5. When you tighten a rim, the load is even distributed among the 5 lugs, you would be asking 4 lugs to do the work of 5. Now if you baby the car you might be able to get away with 4 but I would not recommend it.

    David:

It can be done with a good quality adapter. I will ask Jim if he can make a set for you. I will need some information to get the correct answers.

What is the bolt circle on the new wheel. Some Mustangs used 4 lugs, but Glenn has a point regarding the load when using a wide adapter.

I would keep them to an inch on the front and 2 inches on the rear.

Thanks for the the help Glenn and Dave, I think Glenn is right There is already some compromise with the spacers, I should not compromise even more by reducing the load factor on the lugs. Thanks Guys.
