    355 gauge package

So let me get this straight....

VDO gauges are $250 a set and the reps with the cabbage patching donkeys on them are $500?* I'm looking here at a real 355 package and the damn mules are only on the two big gauges.* The small gauges dont seem to have asses on them at all.* Aam I right?)

To my calculations thats about $125 per pony print.

I think I will take advice on here and go to a sign shop and have two mares printed out on white 3m vinyl and peel and stick.

Can someone please provide the actual height of the Palomino so I can get about a 100 made as free gifts for everyone on here for about $10 at my local art shop.

Are the gauges easy to get into? Dont the lenses simply screw off? Can someone tell me what gauge to what location...IE "gas gauge, middle center console", "water temp, lower center console"

Can't help with any answers.... But sign me up for the "gift"!

One note though... I just picked up an 82 928 Porsche,(german Spec) and it has a full set of VDO gauges! (You could pick some up even cheaper than the $250 mentioned....)
    Just a thought...

    Pete:

Why even bother with the horse? It really doesn't matter in the great scheme of things. It is still a Replica. Who will really notice the gauges anyway. The rest of the interior will look so great along with the car. I would think you could use the extra cash on other things.

    Re: 355 gauge package

it'll be $10 by the time im done.

The other school of thought is why go so far into it and forget a $10 detail....

Lets suppose your car is so accurate that you give a fellow Ferrari owner (not a 355 owner, but perhaps a 360 or 308 owner) a ride and he notices your gauges dont have horses for some reason, he may start asking questions. LOL. Plus it gives me something to do while i'm waiting...

You want a set when I get em made? My gift to the site, just ask. You guys have been more that helpful to me and I can think of a better example of a forum making life easier for me on this project.

I shudderto think of the result of an attempt at a conversion without being able to access this forum. And even worse, I have no mechanical skills.

I can see it now, yet another pturkey carcus with partial skin rotting away in my garage due to lack of financing, time, and neglect.

Ok, what the heck, I will put a set on my VDO instruments too!

Sign me up for a set. I think my 355 is looking pretty close to the real deal.

    Re: 355 gauge package

sure thing, all I need to know is

#1 the height(s) of the mules (exactly)
#2 How many Mules on a factory car (2, large only) or (7) and the height of the smaller mules if necessary* (I cant tell from the picture if the small guages have em)
#3 How hard is it to get into the gauges themselves
    #4 gauge locations
    #5 gauge sizes

    Anyone...?
