Thread: Installing a Power Engine Cover Lift

Installing a Power Engine Cover Lift

After the recomendation to Funny Wheels to use actuators or a power lift system on the engine cover, I found an article that has a fairly good explaination for it. Th article is using the system on a 33 Ford. It shows a diagram of 2 types of set up's but the one being installed here looks to be the best fit in a 355 application. Seems to be more compact and takes um less space.

Follow the links at the botom of that particular page by selecting "Next article" and you will see how it gets installed.

Aside from the Cool Factor I think it is a neat concept for lifting the engine cover.

Dave I emailed the pic of your 355 (with the stick holding the engine cover up) To an awesome hot rod builder/customizer. He has done a few of these types of set ups. He will give us some advice on how to set up for the 355 application. fully automatic open and closing functions

It is OK to have the stock engine and not hide it because the people that are close to us know it is not real and 90% of on-lookers do not even know what a real ferrari looks like under the lid, and if you run in to a fellow ferrari enthusiast, they will know right away that it is not authentic due to the body and interior.
I, myself have an OEM 355 engine top end and removed the actual air plennums and boxes with ducting to fab them over my engine. If that wont look real, I dont know what will, so that will be good enough for me.

I'd just like to see someone make a trunk cover that looks like those air boxes. I'm not worried about the engine but I do need a cool way to cover my trunk.
