need source for some gas struts and electric/hydraulic actuators...

Does anybody have a good source (maybe even a catalog) from someone that sells gas struts?
I'd also like to find a provider for some hydraulic and or electric actuators...

I'm trying to come up with a way to support the weight of my decklid and hold it open when its up.
But I don't want to put too powerful struts on as they will "launch" the thing and possibly break something
and on the other side, I don't want weak ones, where the decklid will hit me in the head when working on the engine*

I'm not happy at all with my initial plan of using the 3000GT hinges on my decklid (for several reasons I discovered after trying them out).* So I have revamped it to resemble the picture below using oem hinges.* The nice thing about these hinges, is they already have some support for a strut.* Of course this decklid is made from fiberglass and weighs more than the aluminum decklid, so the oem struts are not strong enough to hold up this fiberglass version.

DCOX: This a link to a post I posted a while back http://www.madmechanics.com/yabbse/i...?topic=1228.60
I wish I would have seen your OEM pic earlier It would have sped up in the design of my decklid frame. I ended up
with something just about exact tho ;D I fabbed my own hinges and used struts from WWW.ALLEGISCORP.com
page 560 in the catalog. They are the shortest struts they offer, The only way I could hide them. I tapped a 5/16
hole on the side of the hinge and threaded in the ball stud for the strut. worked excellent. Hope this helps

I ordered gas struts from Tokico for my countach doors. Use the toll free number on this page http://www.tokicogasshocks.com/new.asp to get them to send you a pamplet. They are very helpfull and the pamplet has all the dimensions and pressures for the struts. Open, compressed, and they have the brackets for the ends in all sorts of designs.* * 8)

The trunk of the new W-body cars (grand prix, lumina, monte carlo) has a cool little gas strut that is about 10 inches long when extended and it hold the FRONT DECK on my 355 kit open once it's up. They are not strong enough to open it by themselves, but will hold it there.

Readily available at your local GM dealership and not to spendy if memory serves.
