FunnyWheels-Wiper Modifications for Extended Windshield 355

I have taken the liberty to document the wiper modifications necessary to re-use the Fiero wiper arms, motor and wiring when extending a windshield on a Fiero using a 355 Air Dynamics kit from John Watson.* I hope this will help a few of you out there building this type of car.

The windshield glass is from Trevor in Australia and available through John Watson as part of his kit with the necessary windshield extension tray to attach the lower portion of the windshield to the Fiero.

This topic will cover the method I used to mount the parts to my car.* Many thanks to Sandy and Steve for their ideas on the process.

Place tape on the fire wall to use as a way to mark the outline of the wiper.

I used some bolt and washers from Home Depot to make a mounting point for the motor. It seems to work fine for this application.

Part of the process is changing the wiper drive arm. It needs to be removed and turned 180 degrees to make the wipers shut off with the wipers in the down position. Otherwise, the wipers will stay up onto the windshield surface when in the off position.

One of the steps in the process is to relocate the wiper arm hole. I used a piece of white cardboard under the hole, sprayed black paint on it and used it to locate the new hole. (note: there is a reinforced nut in the area the new hole will be located, make sure you drill with enough room or the wiper arm support will not bolt up correctly)
