    Engine Bay Struts

Can anyone tell me what kind of struts they are using for there engine bay and trunk lids
on a 25th anniversary countach replica.
I have heard a late model chevy suburban rear(hatch) strut will work fine for the trunk lid.

    Re: Engine Bay Struts

I think I used Ford explorer rear glass struts for the engine cover. Remember that cover is very light compared to the trunk cover with the wing on it. I used Pontiac Grand Prix trunk hinges for the trunk. I wanted something that would lift the lid away from the engine lid before tilting. It's not perfect yet , but it's getting there. Let me know if you want more info. 8)

If you want to buy custom lift shocks. I go threw www.Allegis.com they have every length and offer pound increases by the 10 pounds.
Very nice to get that perfect amount of lift without stressing things or under powered.

    Re: Engine Bay Struts

I had just purchased a set of 1998 Pontiac grand Prix strut hinges on e-bay for $1.00
that I am planning to use for the trunk lid cover.
How did you mount your Pontiac hinges?
    Thank You

Would something like this work? This is rodney Dickman's site. He has all kinds of good stuff like front hood struts as well. I think his user name on this forum is 1988Mera. Really cool guy, he'll help you find whatever you need.

    Re: Engine Bay Struts

I do sell them for the Mera's and 308 and 328 kit cars. I can do that because I have an 88 Mera. Also most all 308 and 328 kits were molded off Mera's so my struts fit. This is not true with other kit cars. There have been many manufactures and many are very different from each other. So I can't offer them for other kits.
