    door handle kit does one exist

    it looks like most people have fabbed their own door handle mounting and rod. Has anyone made a kit for this?
    What was I thinking??!!  I could have a VR4 Spyder for this kind of money.

    If your really desperate I'll make a set for you for $100. Send me your actuator rods so I can cut and bend them...or you can just look carefully at the pictures I posted earlier and try it yourself. You'll find that most of the small details like that just have to be figured out. Figuring out how to do something is the hard part, actually doing it is the easy part. Luckily you have this forum and lot's of pictures thoughtfully uploaded by others to make it easier. That way we're not all continually trying to reinvent the wheel.

    FerrariFan;

    Looks like you have done a door handle similar to what FunnyWheels has. I was going with Glen Goodman's setup as I thought it might be a little more water resistant.

    I had seen previous threads talking about potential pressure on the fiberglass scoop area when bonding to the top of the scoop but I don't think that a door handle will cause that much pressure. Yours and Dave's does look a lot easier to fabricate for the push rod though.

    Thanks

    Here is a shot of mine.* It uses the stock Fiero door handle and rod (hammered straight). The metal is 5 inches wide, made in a flat "Z" shape, one side welded to the Fiero door frame, ine side holds the door handle. Adjust the "Z" to fit your application since they are all different.

    I have an old inner tube liner that goes over the hole in the door with a slit in it so only the handle sticks through into the weather.* All else is tucked up inside.* But i don't drive in the snow, so it might not work up north.

    This is an old photo from 1998, the Mirage build, but the basic concept is the same.

    With the big gaping holes in the engine cover I don't plan on driving it in the rain if I can help it. It would have to be a real downpour for much water to get up into the door handle hole. I also plan on doing a rubber flapwith a slit cut but mostly to keep the wind noise down.

    Done Deal;

    I am going to mount mine the same as you and Dave as that looks the easiest to me. I am with you, I don't plan to drive in the rain either except if I am caught in a squal I wasn't planning on. It is also a convertible so there is going to be wind noise anyway.....

    Easier and faster to install. Doesn't get much better.
    Thanks

    I didn't use outside door handles on my 355.
    Doors open by remote.

    When I built my 308 kit, it cam with a relocator that looks like Dave's setup.
    It used bolts and the mounts were sloted.
