    355 headlights

Does anyone know the dimensions of the OEM 355 headlights?
How wide and high are they?
I am looking for another make that can closely ressemble the real ones.
I've heard that I can use the headlights of a recent Ford Probe. Are these the closest I can get to the real ones?

I would appreciate some help in this matter...

Thank you Ari for this great site!!

    The lense is 10x x 4.5h x 7d

Add another .5 inches to the height for the mounting holes.

It WILL fit in the stock Fiero bucket with a little dremel work

Has anyone looked at the c5 Corvette lights to see how close they are? (Probably just as cheap to get the real ones)

OEM 355 headlights cost about $1000...way too much for just headlights.

I will check the Corvette headlights...

Thanks for the tip and DKOV thanks a lot for the info!!

    Re: 355 headlights

I forget what I paid for my 355 headlamps but it wasn't anywhere near $1000. I think it was a few hundred though.

I did pay $1100 each for the side mirrors and $1200 for a brand new 355 steering wheel

These OEM parts are expensive.. but hey, so is this hobby

    DKOV,

I called the Ferrari dealership in Montreal and they are asking $850 CDN for EACH headlight... waaaaaaaay too expensive!!!

You got a great deal on yours if you only paid a few hundred dollars...lucky you...

I think they must of quoted you the headlight (glass) and bulbs only. *The entire pop up assembly, headlight, bulbs, harness, motor and linkage is about $2500 per side from Ferrari of Atlanta.

If you're not confused, you're not paying attention.

Here is another idea for you. *In my past attempt at a headlight assembly for my Mirage kit was the use of a Mitsubishi pop up headlight assembly ($85.00 at salvage yard) and Chevy Corsica Head lamp bulbs. ($10.00 each, Salvage Yard). *I made the headlight pop up covers out of an old parking sign and painted them to match the Mirage kit. *I am not using the configuration due to the fact I purchased new 355 Headlight Assemblies. *Here is a shot of the old set up for you.

Thanks for your help Mapics Man.

Yes, indeed! the Mitsubishi headlamp comes closer to the real thing than that of the Ford Probe.

I will check the dealership and scrap yard then...

    Thanks!!

    Re: 355 headlights

I have used a Ford Probe light on another 355 kit application and it works better than the Mitsubishi Eclipse light assembly. *I still used the Chevy Corsica headlight bulb and Corsica plastic mounting bracket. *I took a hacksaw and cut off the parking light part of the Corsica plastic mounting bracket then welded two little angle clips to the Probe headlight bucket to mount the Corsica plastic headlight mount to. *It worked just fine. *All of the little adjustment screws are used by using the plastic mounting bracket that holds the bulb in place on the Probe assembly. The pop up lights assemblies are made by the same tier one supplier for both Mitsubishi and Ford. *

Note:Be sure to get the control box that mounts on the fender well so you can have the electronics to make the lights go up and down when the lights power up and off. *I think there are three relays in the control box. *You will only need the control box when you do not use a Fiero headlight switch and the Fiero relay system on the Fiero. *The function is the same.
