New engines in Kit Cars and the SVA

Does anyone here know the inplications of installing a new 2006 engine in a kit car and it's implications regarding the SVA.

I remember reading that kit cars using a chevy V8 have to have a block cast before 1975 ish if this is right then what happens if i wanted to put a 2006 BMW engine into a kit. Obviously it would use the BMW emissions control equipment so can't se a problem on that front.

    Any advice?

It all hinges on your local state and city laws, what they require. A 1975 or earler block code means little or no emission controls. Also on how the car is titled, many lambo's and furaire's titled as original doner cars. How many kits built around the VW platform looking like MG's, jag's, GT40's ,ect. were retitled? None too much trouble to retitle. And by the way when getting plates how many states want to see the car after lay down the green stuff? Just my 2 cents Tom F
