Thread: Anyone pulled apart a fiero steering column?

Anyone pulled apart a fiero steering column?

I have pulled apart my wheel and column to remove a broken turn signal stalk. Problem! I have an extra spring!
    Where does it go?

    Using this pic -
    http://www.fieros.de/en/articles/steering.html
It is part of the hi/lo beam actuator. Its a paper U-shapped springy piece of metal with a couple of bends in it.

I didnt heed the warning from the above site

"When you pull the lock housing off, the high beam actuator may fall out. Getting it back in place can be fun if you're putting things back together. So beware!"

Help desperate - been fidling for a number of hours now and not getting anywhere. Without the spring the hi-lo doesnt seem to want to stay in the right place. Just cant figure out how to place the spring into the mess..

Please or please email me at derwin at rim dot net

    Thanks

I've had a couple of them apart, but it's been too long and I can't remember! Best bet is to try Pennock's:

I'd be surprised if someone there didn't give you some good advice within a couple hours. Good luck!

I did post there -- been digging in the search and I found it .. The car has been around for so long they have everything in pictures.

    This is it ..

I never would have guess this .. Wasnt even where I was looking..

    From the post:
Here's a pictorial that gets you there:

If you have an automatic, your shifter interlock cable adjustment is the likely culprit. Banging the shifter into park can sometimes be a temporary workaround and test if the cable is the problem.

i would like to know if a saturn steering column would work in a fiero
In the USA if you pay a company / person to start a plug, then it,s your plug and work ,it is not theirs to sell or trade !!
