17 and 18 inch Wheels for Countach

I know it has been done. I want to put 17 or 18 inch or even both 17 on the front and 18 inch Champ 506 Legend series Centerline wheels on my Countach. Has any one done this to there Countach? I have seen real Countach's with 18's. The original Countach came with 15 inch wheels and tires. Front rim size : 8.5x15 inch, Front tire size 205/50 VR 15, Rear rim size : 12x15 inch, rear tire size 345/35 VR 15.

I would think the car would handle better and even look sharper with a set of 18 inch Champ 506 rims. I'm just wondering what's the best size to get them to fit so there not rubbing the fenders?

For my Sterling, I built some rims out of cardboard to get all the measurements needed. Once, I knew the specs, I then went looking for rims. With a kit cars, there are nothing like standards. Good luck, because I know it will look good when done.

Thanks! The problem is, if you click the link and look at the stock car with the massive 15 inch wheels and tires, you can see they fill up the finder well. Any larger and it seems as though there going to rub. ???

Here are some pics that people from Japan have put on huge rims.

Some of those cars are actually pretty cool, but others are just a bit too "Fast and the Furious" for my tastes. Big rims definitely make a difference!

The black one looks the best I think.

I would rather stay with the Countach style wheel. Those wheels just seem to look natural on those cars. That's why I like the Champ 506 rims. At one time the champ 500's only came in 15's now the 506 is available in 17 and 18's.

I'm putting 18's on mine...15" tires are to hard to find these days...and if you do find a pair they cost a nut and a ball...if you need a new 18" tire you usually can get a replacement the same day

That is a key point since they dont manufacture those huge 15" tires anymore.. I know someone that had to buy new wheels since the tires were no longer available anywhere.. At any price... The same can be said for the 16" tire availabillity..

Sorry, but that is incorrect. They release a batch every once in a while. Tire rack has the Pirelli 345/35/15's right now for $491 each. High yes, but available. Not to say they will be, when you ruin one though.
I have been watching this thread, as I have thought up going with the 17" or 18" wheel for my Countach, when I get to that point. I'd agree, it would handle better, and the availability of the tires later, sounds better also.

I think in order to carry off the look you need the look of the real wheels like wheels pictured next to the real Countach.

Here is a photo of a Jason's car, a friend of mine in the Denver area. His car is about as close as you can get to the real deal and still afford to drive it.
