    AD 355 hood bows

Everytime I do not follow Johns instructions exactly, I get into trouble. My problem now is that my hood had a bow in the middle from a bad glue job. I placed clamps all around the hood, except the middle. Now when I shut the hood, the middle sits about 1/8" up. It bugs me. The question now is what do I do?

    - Cut the bottom panel, add spacer to level hood
    - Place weights on hood and hop for it to level out
    - other?

I think we need to see a photo to determine how to fix it. Where is it sticking up, at the corners near the windshield or some place else?

That is not as bad as I expected. If the hood is securely bonded together I would place the hood fascia bar on the bumper in front of the hood where it belongs. Then use a slight amount of body filler to smooth out the area using the fascia bar as a guide. Mine was similar to yours because I did not grind the inside mating portions of the panels and I had to rework the area since the hood would have been destroyed if I tried to take them apart. The lip that hangs down under the leading edge makes it look worse than it really is. That should be a consistent thickness across the leading edge of the hood so you will need to use a long file board to bring that into the proper tolerance.

OH, Shane.....I forgot to tell you. My garage door fell off of it's hinges and onto your hood. In other words, don't worry about that little bow. But do pick up some kitty hair for when you come up next. ;D A LOT!

Forget my car, how is your garage door? Well at least we have sheet metal, a brake and a welder to fix the garage door.

That really did happen to my wife when I was on the road. It messed up the top on her Baby Benz and put a few marks in the hood of FunnyWheels. I have a new one now but it was very upsetting at the time.

I guess we all will have a few war wounds.
