I used a combination of the stock fender wells along with black plastic. The plastic comes from an inexpensive trash can that I bought at lowes and cut into shape.

For $40CDN I got a 4x8 sheet of 2mm Sintra board. The stuff is tough, black, and cuts easily with a sharp knife. I'll be using that for my wells. I got it from Industrial Paints and Plastic just down the road. I also used the same stuff for my window trim on my Countach. Looks great and its awesome to work with.

I went a different route (I always seem to do things that way). I laid up some thin fiberglass mat on a Fiero rear glass sitting on saw horses with some black paint mixed in the resin. As it cured a little, I removed it from the glass then placed it over my tire and let it droop to form the proper curve. The following day, I simply trimmed and bolted it in place. It worked like a charm.

My last kit car had bare fiberglass wheel wells and it was loud. Driving down the freeway sounded like a war movie sometimes will all the rocks hitting the wheel well. For my AD355, I used a product called Tireplast. It is a 8' x 6' sheet of chopped up tires. It cuts easy but is a little on the expensive side. If I had to do it again, I would do what Funnywheels did and spay on truck bed liner to sound deaden it.

I don't know why you would want to throw away the fiero wheel wells unless they are completely un-useable. I put sound deadner on the back of mine and used them - not a perfect fit but accepable, especially since they are out-of-sight. Gives the car a finished look, protects against road debris and suppresses road noise.

As much as I do not want to quote DKOV, but didn't he use plastic/rubber garbage cans?
