    Re: 1988 v-6 flywheel

Not that I know of as I am also looking for an '88 Flywheel to do a swap for an 88-89b block into an '86 Fiero. I think I am going to be able to get one from Pioneer through AutoValue Auto Parts up here.

Pennock's may be a better place to ask as they are all about Fieros. Lots of info all over that site.

    Cheers

I just purchased one from Kragen auto. It was about 39.00 plus a core charge of 35.00. It was a reconditoned wheel but looks brand new.

    Re: 1988 v-6 flywheel

I purchased a new flywheel some years back that fit a Camero. It might work on a Fiero engine. I know some of the 89 up engines had to have a flywheel rebalanced to work on those engines if a Fiero flywheel were uses. It is from the 89 up engines being internally balanced using a neutral balanced flywheel. Fiero flywheels, along with the front harmonic balancer are the parts that balance the Fiero engine it is called externally balanced.

I think if you’re using an 89 up engine like a 3.1 or 3.4 you need to dig into this a little bit. I will see what I can locate for you.

    Regards,

    Dave

The flywheel I purchased from Kragen was listed at their web site:www.kragenautoparts.com along with others. They listed the stock one for 39.00 and 35.00 core charge. I went to local kragen and they priced it at 79.00 plus 35.00 core. Told them about intenet price and they matched it.
Is their a way to tell if what I purchased is correct. thanks larry

There is a "cast in" or "stamped" part number on the inside of the flywheel (side toward engine). Look up the part number in a GM parts book and look up yours to see if you have the correct one. The 3.4 and Fiero 2.8 flywheel will have diferent part numbers based on the balancing issues previously mentioned.

Dave, thanks for the information. I check number on flywheel 14018712 and the number in GM book 14089201. Then doing more searching on the number on my flywheel found it has many applications for 2.8 engines with "0" balance It include the 1988 fiero and 87-89 cavalier. I would say I have the right one. larry
