    custom frame

hi, I'm a newby to this forum. If this question has been asked before please be patient. I've done a search but could not find anything. Does anyone know of any plans or books on how to fabricate a custom frame. I'm a good welder and like attention to detail. so building the frame shouldn't be a problem. I just need some guidence on how to start.

What kind of a car were you planning on. I have built two for the diablo.

    jdinner,

What plans did you use for your diablos? Also...whats the deal on the 'build a diablo for 15 bucks a day' site? Is the info any good? Am trying to decide what to build next.

I'm undecisive on that, I thought about a countach or a custom one off. I do know that it will be mid engine LS1 or LS2 and if I get lucky maybe an LS7 and have front and rear C5 suspension. I do plan on getting a c5 salvage vette for most of the parts.

Sounds to me what you are trying to build is a FFR GTM.  Buy the frame from them, it accepts C5 engine and most C5 pieces with a porsche transaxle.  You even have a body to start with or you can customize the body the way you want.  Should be much easier than buildign a frame from scratch and theirs is tested.  I am building one, so I know a bit about it.  I have an 580 HP LS2 in it.

Is there a web link for this frame. If it isn't to much trouble, would you be kind enough to share the costs of a project like this one?

If you're not confused, you're not paying attention.

The frame is from a GTM at Factory Five.

By the time you have a running car it will be between $80K and $100K

The plans I used were from naerc.

    Re: custom frame

you can build one for between $45-60k with minor customizations or use of a donor car.  $60-90k with heavy cusotmizations.  I am in the heavy customization category and I am going to be in the 75-80k range.  But I used everything brand new, no donor car, $15k in upgrades to the transaxle and $12k on the engine, 6k for wheels and tires, $6k for a custom interior, $7k for paint, custom brakes, custom kooks headers and x-pipe, ...etc.  I used very little of the kit.  I know two or 3 people building one for $50-55k.

go to http://www.factoryfive.com/gtmhome.html for more info.

My build page is http://hayabusa02.home.comcast.net.  Just click on the GTM at the bottom of the page
