    Transmission options

I have been doing some research on possible transmission options. I've come across the Getrag 7 speed 7DCL750 longitudinal transaxle. This is a dual clutch transmission. However, I've only found limited info on this model. Does anyone have info on this... price... where to get it...etc? Is it even worth looking at for a kit?

If you are looking for something like this be prepared to spend over $5000.00 on the transmission. Some are as high as $20,000.00 for a transmission.
I am running an audi it cost me $50.00, a spare has cost me nothing. I can replace it if it fails for nothing.

Jim: Would you be kind enough to email me the specs on the $50 Audi transaxle. I would be interested in mating it to my 3800.

    Thank you,

I have seen the specs on this trans, but only on the getrag page. I have tried on many times to get info on it with no luck. But I cannot imagine it being less than 15k.

    Re: Transmission options

Jim: Thanks for the post. Are the measurements the same for a 5000 S? I think I may have anough room to turn the 3800 North and South with this transaxle. I am headded to the garage to measure it up. I think if I figure 7.5 to the axle center line, allow 1/2 for an adapter plus the distance to the firewall. If the engine fits in that space I may have to take the plunge.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

    Re: Transmission options

The engine is 21 inches long. The distance from the top of the firewall to the centerline of the axle is 22 inches. I wonder if I can tilt the axles froward toward the engine? There has to be a way.

I cannot imagine it being a problem as long as the angle is not to severe.
