Horn Wire Connection with Aftermarket Steering Wheel

    Hello All

I'm replacing the stock Fiero steering wheel with an aftermarket one. Anyone know how the wiring for the horn gets hooked up. I see the one coming from the new horn button but don't know where it hooks up to the existing wiring.

    Thanks
    Paul

Sure thing. There is a spring loaded wire and button that is inserted into the factory column. This wire is what is used to connect to one terminal of the aftermarket horn button. The other goes to a ground on the wheel adapter hub. You can verify this by taking that wire coming from the column and touching it to ground, your horn should sound!

    let's see if this works.....

That black spring loaded plunger is what makes the connection to the ground circuit, sounding the horn.

    Thanks Joe

Do I need to dissasemble part of the column to get to the wire or can I get to it another way.

    Thanks Paul

Glad you got it. Mine still doesn't work so i need to get off my butt and wire it. The dash and wiring is my car's biggest headache right now.

Not sure what you're building, I'm doing a 355 and the original Fiero wiring looked like a dog's breakfast so I ripped it all out and re-wired the whole car with a kit from American Autowire. I'm very happe with it and at the very least I know where everything goes and easy to trace.

That might be a good fix right there. My 328 replica is pretty much done, the only two parts of the VDO gauge cluster that aren't functional are the water temp gauge and the speedo.
