I've been following your build, maybe the best reason to monitor this site. I've been through a similar experience having built a Superlite Razor with major customization. The payoff is always when I take it out, especially to a car gathering. You mentioned all the other fabulous cars at the meet. My comment would be that those guys BOUGHT their car, not built it! They probably even payed someone else to put the outlandish wrap on that Lambo.
On weight, I ended up going to the local garbage truck yard where they have a scale (in San Diego). The car came in a few pounds more than I hoped but then those speakers alone added twenty pounds.
