    Now, over the last few months I've got to understand why so many car rear ends are poor. It is by far the hardest part of the car to get the design right. Getting something coherent with the rest of the car & stylish is very difficult. A couple of attempts that were thrown away can be found here (let's just call them learnings!):

      That was a lot of work to bin. But having seen a snippet of the final thing (at least half of the final rear) it was definitely the right thing to do.
      It’s going to be a cracking car when it’s finished.
      Are you going to have the leather type bonnet straps on it?

        Some images of some of the details on the car, to date. I particularly like the side fin!

          A couple of clips to show how the door is progressing. As I hinted at earlier, the aim is to have a Z1 style door.

          The 1st clip shows the 1st crude working door, the final aim is to have the door & roof open as a single action to allow access.

          The 2nd clip shows the automation of the mechanism.

            Dock;

            This car look amazing. I really like the lines taking a rather boring Z4 and making it come alive. Good luck with the continued build and looking forward to more updates.

            Keep it up

              That’s brilliant! Love it!
              Should be a great build Doc. Brian and Ash are real craftsmen!

                Some more images for you.
                Previously I showed some of the "learnings" on the rear.

                Here we have the final version:

                  Image Rear 10 looks a bit like the front of the original Barris batmobile (sort of if you squint and look at it sideways).
                  I bet your really excited to see the back end moulded. I know I would be.
                  The kit I had from the team some years ago was great and I know subsequent kits only got better and better.
                  This is going to be a real head turner!

                    This is looking pretty good! I may have missed it, but what is that tail light from?

                      They are not from another car. They were being used for another bespoke design & I have gained agreement to use them.

                        Looks like a big aftermarket LED trailer lamp.

                            Very nice;

                            Are you still in pretty much mostly mdf board and bondo at this stage or are you starting to already mold pieces and pulling parts? Just looking at the front end and it almost looks like it is finished and into fiberglass already.

                            Very cool. I look forward to seeing it all one colour to really capture all the lines and contours.

                            Cheers

                              Don,

                              I'm about to take second moulds, then it will just be a question of paint + the 1001 other items that need to be resolved! There is a large car show in England in May.

                              I'm hoping the final car will be on display.

                              Cheers

                                A old clip I dug out from when the original moulds were being created. A good way to "bank" & protect the work already completed.
