So back to the bottom half that's happening , as you probably know , tons of guys have swapped out the engine for something else , LS3 , 2JZ , even S2000 . there are so many swaps that work with this car as well as mods for the factory VQ35 including turbos , single , doubles , supercharging etc , most 4 cam V6 and V8 engines are very wide , the heads are huge .
So i decided to make some extra room under the new hood to accommodate these add on's.

Working on the bottom half of the hood , this was the first mock up I did , I really wanted to do this but it's just too time consuming , If I was building just one , well then I would have gone for it .

Exhaust surround , because the back panel below the taillights is curved the exhaust tip needs a surround to make it more of a feature , instead of it just sticking out of a hole .
So i built a plug for that piece and when i make the rear mid panel i will insert it into the panel .
So you can see in the first pic at the outside edges of the tip there is a gap , so the surround will fill that and still maintain the look of it sticking out of the mid panel .
Once the mid panel comes out of the mold the center of the surround will be trimmed out .

Thanks for the kinds words , other plans are air ride suspension , unfortunatelyI had everything organized with them at SEMA in 2018 , now i have to choose another company .AccuAir Suspension is permanently closed due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The forced shelter-in-place order by the State of California with an unknown return date .
Also might install some cutouts for the exhaust , my main concern is to get the body finished and start getting them out there .
Thanks so much for your interest .

Falcata. Another thought is that another local builder used door in core foam board to shape some of his parts and it cuts and sands as nicely as the 2 part foam and way more economical. He bought the 4x8 sheets from Slegg Lumber. Might be an option for the bigger areas like rear fenders.
A thought anyway.

This is amazing work. Liking the look of the shape and being a standard and available donor will be important to expand your market. The Vaydor is a very cool machine as well but really requires some additional skills of the builder to be able to cut away the car body. Looks like your kit will be mostly just pulling the fenders off rather than extensive cutting.
Looking forward to seeing more updates

On to the roof , there is two bat man like humps that go from the top of the roof down and blend into the rear quarter panel , I made a template out of 1/4 inch plywood and cut them out on the router table , this is a great method to making parts the same , just flip the template to do the other side . that blue foam sure machines well .
