Winging it
Doing the Layout for the extension pieces , these are the first ones out of the mold , looks like my plan just might work out !!!
I will have to lay up another set now for the other side , didn't want to make two sets until i knew it was going to work out .
I know I am not ready for the wing just yet , but I needed something else to work on to give my back a break from working on the hood and the nose of the car .

Got the other parts made today for the wing extension , should be able to assemble it tomorrow .
I will glue some fiberglass strips inside the wing to make flanges for the new pieces to bond too , then fill in the holes from the old mounting feet and bodywork , then make a real nice mold with a huge flange is I can vacuum bag it .
You can see here how it's going to go together .
I know this is kind of boring , there will be some fun stuff soon !!

Hi Joel
I agree 100% with taking a look from a distance to get a better perspective , but unfortunately the car has no suspension in it , I had to remove it so I could get the car level and at the right ride height for the 22 inch wheels , and to be able to check for clearance during the build .
I would love to stand back and look at it , with the wing , I am going to build the wing and wait to build the mounts until it can be moved . ( probably be in the way all the time )
It's going to mount under the trunk lid so there will be plenty of room for getting it right .
Thanks for the input it's much appreciated .

Hi it's been a little while , My dad passed away ....... very sad he was a brilliant man , fighter pilot in the RAF and the RCAF , flew all kinds of fun stuff , broke the sound barrier in a Saber .
He is the reason that I build stuff , he was into building everything and was totally awesome , there wasn't anything he couldn't do .
Speaking of wings and things , the wing turned out pretty well , I will cut the ends off and make separate end plates

Next I jumped onto the rear deck lid or trunk , I need to make a copy of the deck lid trunk area so I can build the trunk lid top and bottom off the car , it's so wide that it's just too awkward to build on the car .
So I prepped the area with wax and PVA as usual , but something went wrong , still not sure what happened , as I was laying up the fiberglass on the third layer, I was half way down the lid and it started kicking off and I wasn't going to be able to steel roll out the air !!!
So I was freaking out thinking it's going to be a big mess with air pockets and voids !!! so I pulled all the layers off and tossed them away , leaving a bunch of little glass hairs everywhere to deal with .
So here it is prepped waxed and PVA sprayed on
And here it is after I yarded the three layers of glass off , so I trimmed the little glass hairs off best I could without disturbing the mold release .

Trunk lid continued , this is after re fiberglassing the trunk area , it was stuck on there but good .
Some of the resin got under the slats and was holding on tight . so it was a but of a struggle to get off and I was worried about breaking the deck lid and the rear roof area .
Here in the first pic you can see how many wedges I used to keep going around to help pry it off , it was making some scary busting apart sounds .
It ended up cracking a couple of seems , tore all the slats off as they got stuck in the part from the resin getting under the edges .
The part is rough but with some bodywork it can be rescued
