A little more on the trunk lid
I built a base for it , makes it a lot easier to work on and it holds it in the right place , it was flexing while sanding

This piece came out really rough after the weird glass kicking off too early thing , so it's taking me a while to get it looking sweet , all those pesky corners to sand and make the same.
it's almost ready to take a part off .

        Hey Phil;

I assume you will be taking a part from this which will end up being the actual mold piece that will be used to make more inner hatch pieces? If this piece is the mold, I am right back to confused after our discussion on how this is going back together..... Haha

        Take care and talk soon

          Hi
A little more on the trunk area . after tons of bodywork to rescue the part , it's now been primed and painted , it's not perfect but it's really just a copy of the back of the trunk area so I can work on the trunk off the car . so now i will mold release this and make a fiberglass part to represent the back of the car at the proper angle so I can start building the top louvered part of the trunk .

              Hi
Been busy with life and building a Saw to cut Foam .
Going to put a big push on now and get this beast done .
Here is a link to the saw I built .

              https://youtu.be/q3kmY4-K2No

this foam should help speed things up with the car , it's Polyurethane an I can fiberglass right over it . Stay tuned !!!

                Hi
Been busy as usual , last posts on the car were about the rear trunk lid .
This was the part that I had trouble with and had to do a bunch of bodywork too .

I made a copy of the back of the car so I could build the trunk lid off the car .

Here is another pic , you can see now the replica in the background .
I built a base for it so it can be at the same angle as on the car for building the louvers for the lid .

Started using the new foam , its going to help a lot , I can cut the foam with the new saw I built and then run it through the thickness planer to what ever thickness I need .
Here you can see how malleable it is when thinner .

                        • Time for an other update , still plugging away in the forest on the Falcata , we had a huge wind storm here on the Island last night , yes you guessed it power got knocked out again , seems like the only time I get to update is when the power gets knocked out at the shop in the forest .
So I have been busy remaking all the pieces I had made in the blue foam with a few changes along the way .
Here I taped a couple of strips of wood on the foam and ran it in the planer to make a taper , seemed to work out , these pieces are to make the big piece that goes across the back thicker and have a taper

So I remade the pieces for the batman humps that go on the roof in the new foam , the new foam is going well at the moment , its a little fragile as in density , so machining it takes extra care , but it can be filled or patched , so it should be good .

                            • and along the way was working on the attachment points , originally I was going to use the factory hatch hinges to hold the rear clam shell down but found it really difficult to access the bolts with the top on .
So if you are racing the clock with bonding compound to attach the roof this might prove to be a problem .
So I came up with a new idea to bolt the rear down using the rear strut mounting location , now there will be a foe vent to hide the fasteners .
I try to use the lasers and grids to insure thing are staying symmetrical , this car has so much shape its like working on an egg all the time !!!

                              • Also been working on the trunk lid outer , the louvers and how they will blend into the rear deck , I know Don might be confused again lol . Now I can have the foam at any thickness I have made the rear deck thicker this affects the trunk , so I have been working on the rise and run of the louvers .
