    Re: Check out my key!

Here are the two outer molds waiting for the resin to harden. I used Urethane rubber for these molds because I will also be using them to make a carbon fiber key head as well. The Urethane rubber has a much higher shore hardness and will work better when I attempt to use them to make my carbon fiber key head. The silicone mold is to soft to work with when laying carbon fiber into it.

This is a photo of the mold for the center section that the key is shaped around just before pouring the black casting plastic.

For the center area I used a piece of plastic that I shaped and made a third mold.

    Re: Check out my key!

I cut out a piece of ABS plastic and cut it the shape of what I wanted for a key head. I then copied it in black resin plastic and using my dremel tool, I cut in the area of where the F logo will be. From there I made a another mold of that piece as well.

    Re: Check out my key!

For those of you who would like a tutorial of how I made my key. This is how it was done.

I started out with having my original key copied with a plastic cover. These types of keys have a smaller head after you remove the plastic and are easier to mold new plastic around it.

    What do you all think?

Looks great MacGyver. Where did you get the mini-hood emblem? And I can completely relate to the relationship you have with you car btw.
