  • Countach with Northstar V-8

    Good Evening Gentlemen:
    I have recently acquired a Countach kit car with the Cadillac Northstar V-8 engine. Anybody know what builder may have produced this car? Are wiring diagrams available as well as parts? I don't think there are any Fiero parts in this car, but I have spotted a Mopar emblem under the steering column. I'm sure this car was once magnificent and I plan to restore her to her former glory. The body isn't bad, but the interior is very bad/missing most components. Can anybody point me in the right direction? The car is titled in Florida as a 1999 "Assembled Parts". Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

        you'll have to use an outside source to post pics though, like photobucket or tinypics, or flickr

          It runs! Fresh fuel, charged battery, new spark plugs and a fuel pump did it. Steering is fine, brakes okay, most lights work. Transmission shifts okay. I have one loud lifter that is reluctant to pump-up. This weekend I'll change the oil and filter and add an additive. Now I can start on the gauges.

            Ed;

            Will (Wbnemo1) is the guy you want to talk to on this forum. He is gathering an incredible number of parts and redoing parts for better authenticity.

            There is also a fellow in Ontario, Canada who frequents the Kitcentral.com forum that has a lot of Countach parts and sells frames and bodies as well. Can't remember the name but if you go there in Countach forum, you will see his user name and info.

            You can only post pics up to this forum if you are a donating member. To get pictures up for view, put your pics up on photobucket or something and paste the link photobucket provides you into a post and the image will show up in the posts.

            Good luck with the new acquisition and keep us updated on progress.

            Cheers
            Don

              If you're not confused, you're not paying attention.

                The N* has been used with th125s, 4t80es,5 speed getrags, 6 speed f4os. Why would you want to go longitudinal with the audi? I would guess that you would have to give up some trunk. Since you have the stretched 355 you will have that extra 3"s in the front.

                        I do not have a trunk.

                          Well maybe it would fit. You would have a tranny that can handle some torque and the closest thing to a longitudinal mounted aluminum dohc v8 ferrari engine of anything made here

                            Dave the v8 will fit with the Audi however you will have to do some extensive work to the firewall to get it in there. I can post some pictures of my AD355 berlinetta with the Audi A4 trans and the 4.9 cadi engine. I believe the northstar is 24 inches which is the same length as the 4.9. The 3.8 is slightly shorter at 22 inches. The 3.8 MIGHT fit without firewall mods if you use the A4/passat tranny. The A4 is about 7/8 inches shorter from the front flange to the axles.

                            Ed..
                            You will need to post some photos.. Sounds like you are making progress already!

                              I would be interested to see how you setup the clutch on that combo and thicknes of the adapter plate you are using
