Hi,
This is my first post on MM so go easy on me har har.
I am in the UK and i am interested in building a 308 replica. I dont want to go down the route of a fiero with fibreglass panels bonded to it, but more so building my own tube space frame chassis and creating a pretty much exact copy of of the GTS shell in fibreglass. I want to go this route because i want to use a 3.9 or 4.2 rover v8 and dont think it will fit in the space available in the fiero (plus there arent many fieros around here in the UK).
A number of questions arise from me here- the first of which is, is there any chassis plans for the 308 that someone has created? The next question is how would i build a mould for the fibreglass body if i have no dimensions to work from (could i 3d scan a scale model and get the plug made by someone in foam?) and the last question what gearbox/transmission shall i use for the mid mounted rover v8 (may i add that i would like a manual gear change).
Ive got quite a good technical knowledge of cars and im currently restoring a 1974 MGB roadster, but i feel that this 308 project will provide me with more of a challenge!
Thanks
Chris
