    Rockcrawl:

This looks like a good top kit. How does it attach to the header? Is there a set of directions with the kit to tell me where to cut the header bar? The balance looks pretty easy. I will contact you via e-mail for the specifics on getting additional information and the parts from you.

      Re: Convertible top hell.

I missed the top frame Rockcrawl had for sale. What header does the one 3fifty purchased from Mike Vetter have on it. I am thinking if I have the header nailed down, I could make up the balance similar to the LA Time Machine top Rockcrawl had available. The combination might be something we can all design and share.

        Re: Convertible top hell.

I had looked at the LA top before, I didn't like the height of it when in the down position.

Here is one that Paul's Exotics did.
        Looks like the sunbird/cav header:
For the top to seal up good it does need the metal around the window. IMHO

          Re: Convertible top hell.

I think Mikes is a modified Sunbird or Cavalier header. I'll send him an e-mail and ask. I just don't have time to do the junkyard hunting, and fab work right now. My frame is to be shipped as soon as Mike get's back from CO after the holidays.

            Re: Convertible top hell.

I used Mike's top, which is a sunbird header. The only issue I have is the way it seals around the side windows. I wanted to modify it but decided for my time frame I would change it later if I wanted to.
Since she's been on the road I have only driven her twice with the top up so I doubt I'll change it.

              Re: Convertible top hell.

Has anyone used a late model Mustang convertible top for his or her conversion to topless? I like the way the header panel fits at the windshield. I need to locate something soon. It does rain in Florida every day at 4:30 in the summertime.

                Mapics,
I know what you mean. When I measured, the Mustang top is wider by maybe a couple inches at the header. The late model Eclipse has the same flush look but narrower I believe. There's alot of them around too so there must be plenty of parts available at the boneyards. I thought I'd use the seal & latches for my hardtop when I get around to it. Got to finish my interior first though. I just uphostered my newly designed dash. Door panels are next.

                  Re:Convertible top hell.

I'm still looking for a convertible top. Some people like the Sunbird header type, but to me it sticks up to high. I believe the Mustang is 4 inches to wide. Has anyone made one from scratch? Does anyone know of a source for plans to build one? I could cut and shape it and Bondo Bob would weld it up for me. Donít know where to start without throwing a bunch of cash at it.

C5 Vette top looks like it'll fit the door glass well, but I wonder how wide it is.

The C5 is too wide. Nice fit on the windows though.

For the header if it is to long can't some one just take out the inches from the center and then reweld it. Or has any one tries it yet.

I would love to know what header David Terrel from European Exotic Autos out in CA used on this 512tr.

This is the look I desire....FLUSH!!!

Let's get a list going of all the convertibles out there, and which ones could be potential candidates.

Dave sent me a few shots once. I think he said he made his own top. I have his phone# somewhere. Is he still in business?

Most likely he's toast. He had a spread in Kitcar Magazine in 2001, and we all know Ferrari's lawyers are loyal subscribers lol. Last year was also the first year he missed Knott's in a while so......
