  • Wiper wiring help?

Okay, I'm a bit lost.  I am about to put the Diablo shroud on the Fiero column and I want to make sure that everything is working right.  I have 3 wires coming from the column white, grey and purple.  The connector at the end of the column has a pink jumper that connects the orange to the pink wire.  The Hayes manual is inacurate regarding this.  So, the big question I have is this, when I press the "washer" "paddle" to activate the fluid pump, what feed back is coming from the three wires in the column (grey, white, purple) it seems that nothing happens at all.  Any insights would be great.

84 column with "pulse" wipers and tilt, 84 wiper motor - nothing else is Fiero.

try this on for size. It's for an 88 model, but this circuit may not have changed much since 1984.

Those are great diagrams, the hayes manual is horrible. I did come accross some additional valuable information and an other good reason not to consider a 84 Fiero for donor parts. In 84 GM used a separate circuit board mounted on the steering column supports to control the pulse. The wiper moter is not the same as the 85+ and will not work. The three wires that come from the column are white - power, grey - pulse+low+spray, purple - high. The grey wire controls everything by varing the resistance coming from white and then interpreted in the control unit within the wiper motor itself. Save some time if you have a 84 wiper motor and launch it into the garbage.
