High Perf Trans for 86 Fiero

Hello,

I have a kit car based on an 86 Fiero.  It has a Chevy 350 bolted up to a 5 speed Getrag Transaxle.  This was supposedly a beefed up version of the stock transmission to handle the V8.  Unfortunately, I recently nailed a pothole and the case cracked.

My mechanic says a weld isn't going to hold up and I should start looking for a replacement.

I was wondering if anyone can refer me to someone to build up a heavy duty 5 speed Getrag that my mechanic can bolt into my 86 Fiero chassis with no additional mods?  If so please provide quotation.

It depends on how much money you want to spend. The Getrag is a pretty tuff transmission. If cost is an issue, find one in a junk yard. Finding the Fiero Getrag is getting harder. Rodney Dickman sells a kit to use the FWD Getrag that might be of interest to you.

Now if you want a really tuff one, check out West Coast Fieros and their NSX transmissions. They sell 5sp and 6sp, but they are pricey.

you have the same conversion that i wonna to what flywheel did you use and what do i take it out of
