  • Anyone ever title a kitcar in Tennessee?

Does anyone here have any experience with titling a kitcar in Tennessee?

I have the rules and regulations, but as you know. what is written on paper is only part of the equation.
How the DMV interprets the rules is the trick.

    Thanks for your help,

    Chris

    chris,

I havent titled mine yet but hopefully next month when I'm done I will. I was just going to title it as a 88 Pont fiero. For me the more important aspect is insureing it.

    Thanks

i had a fiberfab avenger about 9-10 years ago it was a custom tube chassis it was titled as a 1971 fiberfab avenger, not a replica custom build but as actual fiberfab. I guess it would depend on what you are building , my f40 kit is still titled as fiero did not have to do anything special so I would guess if you are doing a 355 rebody you dont need to worry about any of it.

i dont know the rules there but in general for most states, it'spretty easy to title it as the original car unless it's a tube chassis. the hard and tricky bit is registering something like a VW or fiero based kit car as either a one-off type car or as the the car that is being replicated (example diablo replica as a real diablo)

I have done several out in Oregon, Manta with a 350 Chevy engine, I registered it as a modified VW because the steering column was VW and had a serial number on it and a title. I did a Corvair with a 350 V/8 as a modified Corvair...The best way is to keep the plates on the Donner car current while it is under construction and just put them on the finished car! Big John
