  • fiero spindle swap ??

I was just told that the pont fiero spindle(rear) is the same as a front 87-88 pont 6000. Does anyone know for sure if this is correct. If so has anyone tried changing the spindle to get a better bolt pattern choice for wheels( ie 115mm =4.5in). and what about brake choices.?

Yes, I have 1989 pontiac 6000 front spindles on the rear of my fiero based kit. I did that because my V8 was built and the 6000 knuckles have bigger splines for the axle shafts.

I am using a slalom wide track front end. Both front and rear hub/bearing assemblies were redrilled to 5 on 108mm so my oem ferrari wheels bolt right on.

To also answer the original question about brakes, I had Held Motorsports send me their 13" slotted rotors with the 108mm bolt pattern.

Here is what I used on FunnyWheels. The Pontiac 6000 hubs will work in the Olds Ciera uprights and have the proper geometry for a Fiero, the 6000 upright castings do not even though the hubs will swap out. Get the axles with the hubs and have them mated to your Fiero axles.

89 Cutlass Ciera Upright Assembly (casting for larger bearings)
88 89 Chevy S-10 Front Spindles and CV Joint Assembly for
Front Wheel drive. (bigger bearing, heavy-duty splines,
larger CV joints and 4.75 bolt circle).
Ciera Upright Assembly machined to fit S-10 Parts into Casting.

Ciera upright castings $10.00 each side, Used
S-10 Spindles and brakes $25.00 each side, Used
99 Buick Park Avenue Axles, for use with Getrag 5 Speed
Custom axles, PSI Engineering $400.00 Pair
If you're not confused, you're not paying attention.
