The fact that something like this could just happen in this day in age is just sad.

It was an ACCIDENT, as they say S**T happens. You cannot go passing the blame when you are making money out of the drilling for oil in the Gulf and when something like this happens go mad about it. Accidents happen all the time and there is nothing you can do about it. This Blame Game is just stupid!

This is a wake up call for us all to see who has the control. The oil company's or the government. Notice how BP downplays how much oil is spilling into the gulf. All they are giving is possable low ball figures. Since they know the size of the pipe and are certainly able to check the flow rate. They know precisely how much oil is flowing. News crews are very limited as to what they can say. Who is in control? Hummmm.

Came across this site this morning after hearing about it on a radio show.

I'm from New Orleans and my family is from southern louisiana. I think this is a very sensitive issue for people in the gulf region. I also, think that the wisecracks should be kept silent. Jobs, businesses and families are being affected by this. I also, believe that BP has been given too much control. If I dumped the used oil from my vehicle after an oil change into the street drain, I'd get in trouble. Yet it's ok for these idiots to screw up the gulf. Anyways, that's my 2 cents about the situation. Seafood prices are going up and menus are changing. I hope somebody gets their head out their a$$ and fix the problem.

I herd on the news last night about obamas ultimatum for this week but they said it really holds no water since bp seems to be the only one able to do anything about this mess.

so many plants and animals will suffer and die because of this it just makes me sick. Sure mistakes happen, but comon its been over a month now and still no solution...

BP apparently circumvented safety precautions when money could be saved and had NO back up plan whatsoever. Every skimmer boat in the world should be there right now! This blame game is not stupid at all. The government has no equipment or expertise to deal with this. It's entirely up to BP and they are lying there ass off!

                      Re: BP OIL SPILL THREAD

Learn to read between the lines.

The Navy could have that thing shut down in 48 hours.
Why isn't it shut down then?
Because The Obama Administration, and the Dems in general have been bucking the "drill here, drill now" crowd forever.
NOW, just after Obama allows more off shore drilling, there is this huge accident and he does NOTHING about it.
Because it is USEFUL to his agenda and the bigger the mess, the more he feels like he can say "I told you so."
Someone does something you don't like, the best revenge is to have it blow up in their faces and then come crying to you to fix it.
Yep, they'll be using this to further their agenda for DECADES.
The evil thing is, they could have stopped it quickly, with very minimal damage to the environment and business but it served their purpose to let it get way out of hand like this.
Vote 'em ALL out. "Career politician" should be an automatic disqualification in November when you vote.

Please explain how the Navy or anyone else could have shut this down immediately? Are you talking about a nuke?

                          Re: BP OIL SPILL THREAD

By not knowing anything about the oil drilling business I find it hard to believe that BP couldn't of stopped this almost immediately. I could of understood something like this happing 50 years or more ago but in this age of all the technology we have they can't stop it. I would have thought every percaution would have been made to prevent something like this from happening. Stupid me!
