  • Free Ipods for everyone!

I know this sounds crazy, but I read about it in wired magazine as well as did some online research, and it turns out it is legit -
Basically, I sign up for a free offer, get five friends to sign up as well, and get a free Ipod in return. Pretty crazy, eh?

Anyways, if any of you are interested in giving it a try, I'd really appreciate it if you use my referal link to sign up:

    http://www.freeiPods.com/?r=12996462

Once you sign up you too can get 5 friends to join, and get a free ipod as well!

For my offer I am probably going to choose Audible.com - its a service I wanted to try out anyways. It lets you download audiobooks and newspapers and other audio source files to your computer and portable music device. I like listening to audio books when I exercise, as well as when I drive long distances. My most recent audiobook was the Da Vinci Code - I quite enjoyed it.

Other offers include a free trial to Blockbuster Online (Rent DVDs, have them shipped to your door free, no late fees), GM Card (Earns you 5% towards a new GM vehicle), a pack of $5 diet pills, as well as other services.

    Thanks everyone,
    Ari

Yup - you have to try one of the offers yourself, and get five friends to try offers as well. Then you get the Ipod. Each friend then gets five of their friends to try the free offer, and they get an ipod as well - and so on and so fourth.

From the wired article linked to above:

"Here's how it works: FreeiPods.com promises an iPod or a $250 gift certificate to anyone who signs up for various online promotions and persuades five other people to participate.

Subscribers are given a choice of 10 different offers, including a 45-day trial of AOL and a two-week trial of Ancestry.com's genealogy service. Typically, the offers are free and easily canceled.

Once the trials are over -- for both the main subscriber and the referrals -- the free iPod is dispatched.

"Of course I was skeptical, but I didn't see any harm in trying," said Collin Grady, 22, from Salem, Oregon, who received his free iPod earlier this month and wrote about it on his blog.

"They never once asked for a credit card number and I didn't have to pay shipping," he said. "I just told them where to send it.... All in all, a very painless process." "

I also found some video clips of freeipods.com being reviewed on G4 TechTV and NBC - http://www.freeipodguide.com/video/nbcdl.php and http://www.freeipodguide.com/video/g4dl.php

          BE VERY CAREFUL!

90% of those offers will charge your credit card around $75 within a week. Video pofessor charges $65 and the diet pills $75 or so (read the TOS). After 5 offers, it's cheaper to buy an iPod or a laptop than to go through with the site which also wants you to fill in surveys and such. :

            Hey AutoMX -
Thanks for the headsup. A good piece of advice for everyone - before ever giving out your credit card to any site, always read the TOC.

Also, only sign up for something you may actually be interested in - RealRhapsody or Columbia DVDs or Audible.com are all good examples of things I would personally try.

Their hope is that most people just give up after 1 or 2 promotoinal items, and this is the case usually. That's why I've only heard of one friend of a friend of a friend getting one, which I found doubtful anyway. After all, that's an easy way to get others to sign up for you :P
